Ranger Dave used to call me the evening before the marathon, having started training a week or so earlier with a single 5 mile run, and ask me if I thought it was a good idea to run the marathon. I always said yes, and he always kicked my butt, no matter how much I’d trained.
This year, for a number of reasons, I simply had no time to train. My single training run was a 10 mile run two weeks before the marathon.
The result? I finished, but learned in the process I’m no Ranger Dave. It was my slowest marathon ever (not counting the Great Wall Marathon, which technically is an ultra marathon).
But I finished, and my Mom was there at the half.
Great day..
