Day 5
We're finally on the road!
We're not in a tremendous rush, the plan is to poke around a bit, enjoy some of the south west, then make it back to Boston some time during Labor Day weekend.
We start by heading through Yosemite, then down through Death Valley.
Yosemite is a blast, this Alfa was made for roads like this! There's an old racers saying, "it never ran as good as it did just before it blew up". Well, if that's the case, then this car must be ready to explode, because it is running incredibly well! Between the tuning and mechanical work done by Mark and his brother Tim, and the gear lightened transmission done by Tom Sahines, this car is a joy to drive!
And it's getting a lot of looks. People go out of their way to make comments or nice gestures.
With three passengers and all of our luggage, it's a little bit cramped, but not too bad at all. The only thing we're really missing is some air conditioning, it was 117 degrees (47 C) in Death Valley!
We spent the night in Las Vegas, eating fine food and watching all the dreamers pour their money into the casinos..
We drive 638 miles (1021 kilometers), it was a long day of driving..
