Day 9
Today we woke up in Boise City, Kansas. We dodged bugs in the bathroom, skipped breakfast, and left as soon as we could.
We stopped for lunch at Jim 'n Ny's, and almost lost the Alfa amongst all the pickup trucks.
For the first half of this trip we pretty much avoided the interstates, but around the middle of the day we hit I70 and started to make some real time on the trip home. The backroads were fun, but if you're not sightseeing then you can only put up with so many detours and construction.
The GTV is running incredibly well! It's so incredible to drive, blasting past pretty much everybody, plenty of passing power on the backroads, I can only imagine how far ahead of it's time it was 31 years ago.
Today we drove 702 miles (1123 kilometers)! If New Mexico was the state of poor road markings, then Kansas is the state of suicidal insects. I got a good workout at every fuel stop, scrubbing the plastered bug remains off the windshield. Yuck!
Total number of Alfas spotted: 0 (but we did see a Jaguar 420 in the parking lot of the restaurant we had dinner at).
"Dad, where's the car???"
Fitting in with the locals..
